The market for sustainable ESG indices has a problem from a European perspective. Currently, the market is dominated by American providers whose sustainable ESG indices sometimes also include companies from the civilian weapons industry or the nuclear industry. This is not acceptable for many European investors.
The Frankfurt-based fintech company Index Intelligence now wants to change that. Together with the sustainability experts of the Munich-based The Value Group, Index Intelligence has developed its ESG index family, which is based on strict sustainability criteria according to European standards.
Every single stock in the new ESG index family was evaluated by The Value Group regarding the strict European ESG criteria. Based on this data, Index Intelligence developed the new ESG index family XINT TVG ESG, whose sustainability criteria are transparent and comprehensible for each product group.
“The topic of sustainability will determine the financial markets in the coming years. We must not rely on standards in product development that do not correspond to our European values. Therefore, we are pleased to have gained a cooperation partner in The Value Group, with whom we develop indices that are oriented towards European guidelines,” says Beat Singenberger, Managing Partner of Index Intelligence GmbH.
“Sustainable investing is moving inexorably from a market niche to the centre of attention and is generating significantly increasing demand from investors. The changed awareness of investors as well as the current EU regulation reinforce and accelerate this development. For investors, the transparency and comprehensibility of the underlying sustainability factors and the extent to which these data are implemented in the financial products in a qualitatively reliable manner are crucial,” says Dr. Claus Dürndorfer, founder and managing director of The Value Group.

For the launch of the new sustainable index family, Index Intelligence has also decided to plant ten trees in cooperation with PLANT-MY-TREE® for every index sold, thus making a concrete contribution to climate protection in Germany.
